I graduated from the University of Leeds with a 2.1 in Italian and Portuguese in 2006.  I then went on to complete the MA in Applied Translation Studies at Leeds, which I passed with Merit.

During my undergraduate degree I studied for a year at the prestigious Università degli Studi di Urbuno 'Carlo Bo' in Urbino, Italy, and I also spent four months studying at the Portlingua language school in Lisbon, Portugal's beautiful capital city.  I also had the opportunity to experience another of the Portuguese-speaking cultures when I travelled for a month by bus around the southern states of Brazil.

While studying on the MA I worked for one of the world's largest translation companies, thebigword, performing post-DTP quality assurance checks.  This involved the meticulous checking of translated files to make sure that they matched the original source file in terms of formatting and content.  Following successful completion of the MA I moved to London where I joined Europe's largest independent provider of access services, Independent Media Support, as a Translation Project Assistant, moving into a Translation Project Manager position a few months later.

I have been working full-time as a freelance translator since 2010.
